Building Leaders who Build Champions
The Vision
“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him saying, come over to Macedonia and help us.’ Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them”. Acts 16:9-10
The Spirit of God directed Paul’s ministry through a man from Macedonia pleading for his help. Paul concluded that the vision was from God and responded to the call. That vision and Paul’s subsequent trip from Troas to Neapolis (Acts 16:9-11) marked a turning point for Western civilization. That small step for Paul became one giant leap for The Faith. Christianity quickly spread west, gaining footholds in Philippi and Macedonia, moving into Europe, and eventually pervading the entire Western Hemisphere.
The Call
In September of 1999, Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer was approached by a group of pastors representing the countries of Zimbabwe, Namibia, England, Republic the Congo, and South Africa. These pastors had been praying four years for a spiritual covering for equipping, encouraging and fellowship. Good had shown them that this person would be an African American. In the likeness of Paul’s Macedonian call in Acts 16:10, they believed that Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer was the answer to their prayers. In addition to the call from abroad, a contingency of pastors here in the United States requested this same covering from Bishop Ulmer.
The Birth of a Fellowship
Bishop Ulmer’s response was one of humility and prayerfulness. As he sought the Lord and wise counsel, this request was confirmed within his spirit, and he agreed to serve these leaders as their spiritual father in the ministry. Both the process and principles which gave rise to this exciting new ministry is reflective of the relationship that Bishop Ulmer had with the man of God who covered and mentored him, the late Bishop Benjamin F. Reid. Macedonia International Bible Fellowship is the formalization of the divinely-ordained call upon Bishop Ulmer’s life to serve pastors and leaders as a spiritual father.
